After 21 years at Illinois State University, the Department of Special Education announces the retirement of James Thompson. A retirement party will be from 4-5:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, in the Old Main Room at the Bone Student Center.
Thompson has been with Illinois State for 21 years in various roles, including faculty member, chairperson, and director for the department’s Doctoral Program.
Honored on campus as the College of Education’s Researcher of the Year in 2003, and as Teacher of the Year in 2010, Thompson is also internationally recognized for his work on the Supports Intensity Scale and as president of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
