The Office of the Provost announced two new awards to honor faculty creative endeavors.

Recommended by the University Research Council, the Creative Activity Initiative Award and the University Outstanding Creative Activity Award will honor faculty members, from any discipline, whose scholarly activities involve creative productivity.

“These new awards are a wonderful addition,” said University Provost Janet Krejci. “Alongside the longstanding Outstanding University Researcher Award and the Research Initiative Award, the new Creative Activity awards will celebrate the considerable accomplishments of the entire Illinois State University faculty community.”

The Creative Activity Initiative Award will recognize faculty members who have initiated promising creative productivity early in their academic careers. Creative contributions can span from painting and sculpture to film and drama, musical composition, choreography, writing and poetry, creative media programming, and more.

The University Outstanding Creative Activity Award will recognize faculty members for outstanding creative work. While covering the same areas as the initiative award, the outstanding award looks to celebrate the sustained body of work for those who are recognized nationally and internationally in their fields.

Deadlines for submission of applications will be established by each College. Deans must forward nominations to the Associate Vice President for Research by Friday, October 2.
