Applications are available for funding from the Multi-Ethnic Cultural and Co-Curricular Programming Advisory Committee (MECCPAC).

MECCPAC is a diversity initiative offered through the Dean of Students Office, which provides matching co-sponsorship funds for cultural, educational, and multi-ethnic programs on campus. The initiative urges students, staff, and faculty to get involved in upholding Illinois State’s mission of working “as a diverse community of scholars.

For several years, the co-sponsorship funds have assisted registered student organizations, academic departments, the International House, and other groups hosting events promoting diversity.

The funding, drawn from student fees, is specifically designated to support programs that build awareness and appreciation of African American, Latin American, Native American, and Asian American cultures; women; people with disabilities; and gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons.

In previous years, MECCPAC has helped sponsor events such as Black History Month cultural dinners and the Asian Film Festival hosted by AsiaConnect.

The five-member committee consisting of faculty, staff, and students meets every two weeks during regular semesters to review funding applications. MECCPAC provides matching funds up to $2,000. Funds requested cannot exceed half of the total cost of the event. All applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
