The Students’ Attorney, Ed McKibbin, is a licensed attorney who offers free, expert advice and guidance to students in legal situations. The Students’ Attorney can help students with landlord and tenant issues, credit concerns, ordinance violations, criminal matters, wills, power of attorney, personal injury, contracts, domestic or family issues, and general legal advice.

Before signing a lease or any other legal document, or to receive guidance about a legal situation, consult the Students’ Attorney. McKibbin wants students to know they can visit him about any concern. “There are no bad questions, so talk with me in person about your concern, even before an issue may arise,” he said.

A typical day for McKibbin consists of counseling and advising students from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on weekdays. His favorite part of his position is seeing personal growth and development of the Illinois State students who visit him. McKibbin hopes he is able to positively impact lives and that students take advantage of this learning experience.

Appointments are required to meet with the Students’ Attorney. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please contact the Students’ Attorney at (309) 438-2008.
