Performances
Paul Nolen and Martin Seggelke, MUS, performed with the San Francisco Wind Ensemble for the opening concert of the biannual international World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles Conference. They performed Roy Magnuson’s concerto for soprano saxophone and wind ensemble titled “Book of the Dead.”

Publications
Nicholas Hartlep, EAF, co-edited Killing the Model Minority Stereotype: Asian American Counterstories and Complicity, Information Age Publishing. He also published the book, Critical Storytelling in Uncritical Times.

Eirin C. Sullivan, CHE, published “Investigation of Ce3+-doped Na3Mo1-xWxO4F and Na2Mo1-xWxO4 as Novel Phosphor Materials,” in ECS Transactions.

Gregory Ferrence and Timothy D. Lash, CHE, published “Rhodium(III) Azuliporphyrins,” in Organometallics.

Cynthia Kukla, ART, was selected to write two articles discussing the acclaimed Venice Biennale, the oldest continuing international art exposition.

Veda Rives, ART, has three artists’ books, created in collaboration with Meda Rives, including a large installation entitled “Inner Circle” featured in the exhibition Bound by Tradition, Unbound by Choice: Contemporary Artists Books, Pro-Text Prologue, an Illinois State Museum Collaboration at the Springfield Art Association, Springfield, IL, from September 4-October 3, 2015

Rachel Smith, KNR, co-authored a chapter in the book Universal Design in Higher Education From Principles to Practice, Second Edition.

Presentations
Cynthia Huff, ENG, presented “Imagined Communities and Collaboration,” which brought to light issues of “community-building tasks” between editors of edited collections, and also presented on “Unpacking the Pact,” which explored questions of authority and truth value related to animal biographies and their writers at the International Auto/Biography Association- Chapter of the Americas conference held in Ann Arbor, Michigan from June 4-June 7. This conference, themed “Encounters Across the Americas: Archives, Technologies, Methods,” was the first biennial conference of its kind and saw scholarly participation in three languages: English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Graduate students Kate Browne, Ana Roncero Bellido, Krista Roberts, and Samuel Kamara also presented.

Lisa Szczepura, CHE, presented “Rhenium Chalcogenide Clusters Containing N-Heterocyclic Carbene Ligands” at the 250th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society, August 16-20, 2015, Boston, Massachusetts (invited).

David Snyder, MUS, presented a research poster on the edTPA assessment for student teachers at the Instrumental Music Teacher Educator’s Biennial Colloquium.
