Lorraine García earned her B.A. in Spanish from Illinois State University in 2015. She’s now a graduate student in Spanish.

Here’s what she had to say about the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.

“What I really liked about the Spanish program was how easy it was to know what classes I needed to take in order to graduate. I also liked the classes themselves because they helped me expand my horizons on topics I would have never studied myself and by opening me up to new cultures,” she said.

García also praised the Languages, Literatures, and Cultures faculty.

“As a non-traditional student I speak highly of the faculty here because every professor I have had has helped me every step of the way,” she said. “I have had professors that have been so understanding with my personal situation as a mother, which has made me feel welcomed. The professors are actually there to help you and calm your nerves when you are unsure of what you might want to pursue within the program.

“It is because of the wonderful faculty that I have continued my education and am pursuing my master’s degree.”
