As part of an effort to generate community-wide discussion on healthcare advance planning and end-of-life decision-making, Illinois State University has partnered with several healthcare organizations to host an event on Tuesday, October 6. The event will be from 4:30-8 p.m. in the Alumni Center and is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

The talk is titled “Beginning the Conversation: Learning to Talk about a Taboo Subject.” Participants will gain hands-on experiences and skills that will make it easier to have conversations with their friends and loved ones about wishes for their care.

This skills-based workshop will include dinner. Register by calling 1-800-323-8622 or go to Select Advocate Health Care Class/Event Registration and enter 6S20 in the Class Code field to register.

The event is presented by Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Community Cancer Center, Illinois State’s Department of Philosophy and Mennonite College of Nursing, Compassion and Choices, and OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.
