Excel: Level 2
Monday, November 2 • 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This course continues the basics of creating and modifying charts that began in Excel: Level 1. Also explore useful tools like filtering, which make viewing data accessible at a glance, and pivot tables to summarize values. Registration is required.

Camtasia: Level 2
Monday, November 2 • 1–4 p.m.

Learn about advanced features in Camtasia, including cursor effects and testing. Also learn to save with SCORM, which makes compatibility with other e-learning software easy! We strongly recommend that you complete Camtasia: Level 1 before taking this course. Registration is required.

Teaching Excellence: Wrapping up the Semester
Monday, November 2 • 2–3:30 p.m.

Reflect on what you have accomplished in your courses this semester. Discuss strategies that will help students recognize what they have learned, synthesize the information, and consider how their new learning may be applied in the future. The activities discussed in this workshop will help course instructors evaluate the semester and students retain knowledge. Facilitator: Dana Karraker, Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology. Photoshop CS6: Part 5
Tuesday, November 3 • 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This session will give you an overview of the workflow of creating a single complex (but not too complex!) image. New tools we’ll look at will include Blending Modes and Layer Masks. Registration is required.

Rediscover the Document Camera
Tuesday, November 3 • 1–2 p.m.

Document cameras have been installed in classrooms for years, but they get little use. These tools make it easy for you to bring new materials into your class without digitizing anything. They also provide glimpses of objects that would be very difficult to show in class. Find out all the ways a document camera can be used and discover if this hidden gem can be an asset to your class. Facilitated by Doug Smith, director of Learning Spaces and Audio/Visual Technologies. Registration is required.

Teaching Excellence: The Teaching Development Plan
Tuesday, November 3 • 2–3:30 p.m.

Similar to a research agenda, a teaching professional development plan provides a road map to your teaching goals. Discover the components of an effective plan, analyze how to use your course evaluations to identify potential areas of development, and discuss how the Keys to Enhanced Teaching can help you organize your plan for short – and long-term goal setting. ReggieNet: Lesson Builder
Wednesday, November 4 • 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Discover how to easily create online instructional modules using Lesson Builder. This powerful tool allows you to integrate resources from across your ReggieNet site (tests & quizzes, assignments, discussion & discussion forums) into online lessons. Design lessons that require students to complete goals before they can proceed to the next stage. You will also learn how to integrate multimedia content. This course will also briefly discuss organizing content in other ReggieNet features, such as the Resources and Materials and Web Content tools. Prerequisite: Introduction to ReggieNet. Early-Career Faculty Development Circle
Wednesday, November 4 • 12–1 p.m.
Thursday, November 5 • 12–1 p.m.

This development circle offers a combination of professional development and peer support to faculty members in their first three years of service at Illinois State. Topics are based on chapters in the award-winning book, What the Best College Teachers Do (Harvard UP, 2004) by Ken Bain. Participants will receive a copy of the book and an executive summary of each chapter.

Meetings are on select Wednesdays or Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. Join us either day. Attend as many as you can during the semester, but don’t worry if you can’t attend all!

ReggieNet: Migrating Content from Modules to Lesson Builder
Thursday, November 5 • 2–3 p.m.

This workshop will teach you the basics of the Lesson Builder tool in ReggieNet, which will replace the Modules tool for classes starting in spring 2016. Learn how to copy content from the Modules tool over to the Lesson Builder tool. Discover how to design lessons that require students to complete prerequisites before they can proceed to the next stage. It is easy to integrate multimedia content with this tool. Registration is required.
