If you’re looking to surprise your special someone with something more original than flowers or chocolates this Valentine’s Day, the Deaf Redbirds Association (DRA) has your answer! For the third straight year, DRA will serenade Redbirds across campus with “signing valentines” on February 11 and 12.

How it works

Members of the student organization will perform one of six songs in American Sign Language for the students, faculty, or staff members of your choice across the Quad (some exclusions apply).

Signing valentines cost only $10 each, are performed by three DRA members, and are accompanied by the song’s original score. In addition to the performances, the organization also will be selling student-crafted and painted “I love you” hands (pictured above) for $5 each on Monday, February 8 through Thursday, February 11 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. in DeGarmo Hall’s first floor lobby.

Proceeds will go toward the organization’s future efforts to build awareness of the deaf and hard of hearing community.
