Diversity Advocacy is sponsoring Illinois State University’s fourth annual Black and Latino Male Summit on Saturday, March 19.

The conference will be from 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. in the Old Main Room, located in the Bone Student Center. This year’s theme is To Infinity and Beyond: The Journey to Manhood, which will focus on five pillars: accountability, wellness, wisdom, action, and unity. Registration for the event is open until March 7.

This one-day conference provides a forum to support and equip men of African American and Latin descent with the tools necessary to thrive in society. During the conference, participants will create an environment of camaraderie, discuss issues affecting Black and Latino male communities, and maximize opportunities for coalition, education, and workforce readiness.

For Diversity Advocacy Coordinator, Hurdylyn Woods, this will be his fourth year participating in the event. Woods says, “This is a great opportunity to educate Black and Latino young men on issues that pertain to them.”

Although the conference focuses on Black and Latino male students, it is open to all Illinois State students, faculty and staff. Woods also states, “This is Illinois State University; we’re here to learn from each other and to engage and learn as global citizens.”
