Associate Professor of Geography Jonathan Thayn will be the next speaker for the University Club (U-Club) discussion Friday, February 5, in the Faculty/Staff Commons of the Bone Student Center.

Thayn will present “Prehistoric Networks in Northern Bolivia” in the Faculty/Staff Commons in the Bone Student Center. The event will begin at 3:30 p.m., with the talk starting at 4:30 p.m.

In his talk, Thayn will discuss recent archaeological work that has uncovered a dense network of causeways and canals that connected forest islands in a seasonally-flooded grassland. “We know very little about the prehistoric culture that created these earthworks, but we can learn something about them using satellite imagery and statistical network analysis to study their transportation corridors,” said Thayn.

All faculty, staff, annuitants, and guests are welcome to attend. Additional information about U-Club events and activities can be found on the University Club website. Continued program support is provided by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the President.
