Student Activities and Involvement provides support to over 350 registered student organizations (RSOs) on campus. The April RSO spotlight is the Black Student Union (BSU).

Black Student Union is a Diversity Advocacy Organization advised directed by Diversity Advocacy. BSU aims to coordinate activities that strengthen cultural and political awareness as well as assist in developing skills necessary to become a professionally organized body of students that address issues pertinent to African Americans.

For sophomore and special events coordinator Cora Hawkins, BSU has given her a sense of what it means to be a Redbird. “BSU gives me a place where I can relate to others who share the same struggles with me; it’s a place where others can relate,” she said.

BSU holds biweekly meetings on Mondays at 7 p.m. in 375 Student Services Building. For those interested in joining BSU, all that is required is simply to attend the meetings. For more information, please contact Cora Hawkins.
