Get an overview on this presentation software’s basic tools and functions. You will learn to work with text, images, slide layouts, backgrounds, slide transitions and more. This class is suitable for those who are entirely new to PowerPoint or for those who would like a refresher. Registration is required.

ReggieNet: Tests & Quizzes
Monday, April 4 • 1–4 p.m.

This workshop takes a more in-depth exploration of the Assessment tools available in ReggieNet, including Tests & Quizzes, Assignments, and Drop Box. Learn the options available for different types of assessment, the limitations of the assessment tools, and instructional strategies for promoting academic integrity. Prerequisite: Introduction to ReggieNet. Registration is required.

Assessment that Encourages Original Work

Assessments should encourage students to engage in original work, thus reducing the likelihood of plagiarism and academic dishonesty. This seminar will help you to identify assessment strategies that may inadvertently require only surface learning and the regurgitation of information. Develop assessment strategies and techniques that measure the genuine depths of students’ understanding. No registration necessary.

Clickers: PowerPoint Presentations
Tuesday, April 5 • 9 a.m. to noon

Explore how to use classroom clickers in combination with Microsoft PowerPoint to poll students instantly in class. This introductory workshop is designed for anyone who wants to use clickers in the classroom. This workshop is open to instructors, administrators, and staff only. Registration is required.

Creating Articles for News.IllinoisState
Tuesday, April 5 • 2–3 p.m.

Learn how to use the News.IllinoisState.edu content management system, powered by WordPress, to add news articles, tag them to feed to multiple locations (including your website), insert images, photo galleries, and more. This workshop is open to faculty and staff only. News.IllinoisState.edu replaced Stories.IllinoisState.edu and debuted in fall 2015. Registration is required.

Camtasia: Level 1
Wednesday, April 5 • 9 a.m. to noon

Do you want to add your voice to a PowerPoint presentation and make it available to your students online? Learn to use Camtasia, a screen-recording program that lets you narrate PowerPoint presentations, still images, or videos. You will also learn how to upload the final product so students can access it. Registration is required.

OneDrive and Office 365 for Mobile
Wednesday, April 5 • 1–4 p.m.

Take your projects on the go using Microsoft Office apps for iOS, Android, and Windows mobile devices. Premium features found in these apps are now available to Illinois State faculty and staff for free as part of the Office 365 software suite. This workshop will get you started working with the mobile versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote. You will also explore OneDrive, Microsoft’s cloud-based storage, also free for members of the campus community. Learn how to share documents through OneDrive and discuss how this service within the boundaries of Illinois State data security policies and FERPA. Bring your smartphone or tablet with you to get the most out of this workshop. Registration is required.

Excel: Level 2
Thursday, April 7 • 9 a.m. to noon

This course continues the basics of creating and modifying charts that began in Excel: Level 1. Also explore useful tools like filtering, which make viewing data accessible at a glance, and pivot tables to summarize values.
