Perspective is a powerful tool for teaching and learning. A change in perspective, a new and unexpected vantage point, can provide students with one of those invaluable “ah-ha!” moments. As part of a campus dedicated to inclusion and cultural responsiveness, it’s important that faculty members try to include many perspectives, many voices, in the classroom learning environment.

Once again this summer, the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology will offer a special opportunity to help instructors inject a greater breadth and depth of different perspectives into their teaching. Reinvent Your Course for Diversity is a multiple-day workshop that pairs participants with fellow teachers from across campus. The cohort will reflect on course content and explore how that content is meeting the needs of Illinois State’s diverse student population…and how it might be improved. Participants will explore best practices that foster an inclusive learning environment and engenders a more nuanced understanding of culture.

Reinvent Your Course for Diversity, like CTLT’s other summer course redesign workshops, provides a substantial stipend for faculty who successfully complete the learning objectives. Seating is limited, and registration is required.  For complete workshop dates, information about stipends, and how to register, check out CTLT’s Summer Institute site.
