National Bike to School Day is Wednesday, May 4. Consider joining the many Wildcats who bike and walk to Metcalf School along with hundreds of thousands of children riding to school across the U.S. You will get the fresh air and exercise needed to start your day off right.
If you’re interested in a group ride, there are two different groups riding. One group will be gathering at the General Electric Road entrance of Tipton Park for a longer ride leaving promptly at 7:10 a.m. The second group will meet at Colene Hoose School for a shorter ride leaving promptly at 7:30 a.m. Children who will be riding a bike with training wheels or one without gears should ride from Colene Hoose.
Remember to dress appropriately, wear a helmet, and have air in your tires. A parent volunteer will transport backpacks, musical instruments, and any other necessary school materials to school.
This will be the fifth year that Metcalf has participated in National Bike to School Day. The trek from Tipton Park is 4.3 miles. This is one of the longest in the country. The kids are so proud of themselves when they reach Metcalf.
Nearly two dozen volunteers are needed to make this event a success. Please consider volunteering!
