Transfer student Kyle Walsh, right, who is student body president, with his advisor Erik Rankin from the Department of Politics and Government.

Want to get involved? We have 300+ student organizations, and it’s easy to start your own. Our new student body president, Kyle Walsh, is a transfer student himself:

“Get involved because although you are going through a huge transition, you are not alone. Roughly 40% of all ISU graduates did not start out here. This is your opportunity to have a fresh start, and it’s on you to take advantage of every resource available to get the most out of your time here.” –Kyle

Lindsay Crank

Lindsay Crank

Lindsay Crank joined Tau Sigma, the Honors society for transfer students, after coming to Illinois State from another four-year school. She loves the diversity of our student body and course offerings.

“At my first school, everyone basically fit into the same demographic. But at ISU, I’ve met and become close friends with so many people that are so different from me and I love that.” –Lindsay

You’ll also get to know our faculty members—your teachers, your advisors, your future references. Transfer student Priyanka Bhakta wasn’t impressed by the faculty at her previous four-year school.

“When I came here, it was a whole 180. My teachers care about us and we are always encouraged to go to their office hours even just to talk.” –Priyanka

Tony Gingerich

Tony Gingerich

Illinois State is a Top 100 best public national university. And our national reputation extends to our many academic colleges and departments, including the College of Business. That’s why business administration and finance major Tony Gingerich transferred to Illinois State.

“One thing that I like most about the College of Business is the small class sizes. This allows for great interaction between professors and students. The professors are always willing to help students and enjoy getting to know you as an individual.” –Tony

Anya Malley

Anya Malley

Many students transfer to Illinois State because of our academic programs. Anya Malley transferred from a community college and is now majoring in English publishing studies.

“I chose English publishing studies as my major mainly because throughout my high school career I realized that I loved peer-editing works of writing, and I am really attentive to detail and appreciative of the editing process. I also love English but I did not necessarily want to teach, so when I heard that ISU offered the publishing studies sequence within the English major, I was very interested!”
