New America’s Early and Elementary Education Policy Program just released a series of briefs titled, Principal’s Corner: Perspectives on Teaching and Learning in PreK-3rd Grade, that explore the role of elementary school principals as early education leaders. This series is based on focus groups of elementary school principals conducted in five U.S. cities by the FDR Group.
Promoting seamless transitions from preschool to kindergarten and beyond. The most recent edition of Voices in Urban Education (VUE), published by the Annenberg Institute for School Reform, highlights a wide range of perspectives on how to support children and their families through early education transitions, highlighting the importance of alignment between early learning and K–12 programs, collaboration across systems (such as education, health, and housing) that have a role in keeping children on a path to academic success, and deep engagement with communities and parents as vital allies in the healthy transition of their children to kindergarten and beyond.
