Mark Babbitt, MUS, presented a children’s program on WTVP in Peoria. Nearly 80 children and adults were in attendance. He was also the featured soloist with the San Francisco Wind Ensemble, conducted by Martin Seggelke, MUS.

Ali Riaz, POL, spoke at a panel at the Heritage Foundation in Washington D.C., on “How Can Bangladesh Stop the Escalating Extremist Violence?

Several faculty members from the Department of Mathematics presented at the Annual Meeting of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics in San Francisco. Craig Cullen presented “Measurement Activities for CCSSM, A Workshop for Teachers in Grades 3-5”; Pam Beck presented “Volume Formulas, Are They All Right?”; and Cullen and Jeff Barrett took part in a panel titled “Structuring Two- and Three-Dimensional Space: A Focus on Representations.”

Cynthia Huff, ENG, presented “Eugenics for the Masses: Francis Galton, Photography, Dogs, and the Popular Press” at the Midwest Victorian Studies Association. She also chaired a session titled “Intersections between the Periodical and the Novel.”

Amy Wood, HIS, presented “Crime and Punishment in the Age of Jim Crow” as an invited talk at Colorado College in Denver, where she also presented at a faculty forum “Why History Now? Reflections on Race, Incarceration and Activism.”
