Nelson Ewing, son of Davis and Hazle Buck Ewing, was a master craftsman and jeweler. An exhibit at Ewing Cultural Center telling the story of Nelson Ewing will be celebrated with a fundraising event starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Jack Lewis Fine Jewelry, 1704 Eastland Drive, Bloomington.

Tickets for the social mixer and whiskey tasting are $20 each, with proceeds going toward the restoration of Ewing Manor. Tickets may be purchased for the event, titled From Jack to Giant, at the Ewing Cultural Center or Jack Lewis Jewelers.

Nelson Ewing was an apprentice under Jack Lewis in Bloomington before he began his career. He then worked as lead designer for Towel Silver and Elgin Watch before opening his own store Ewing: Jeweler of Nations, Inc. in Tucson, Arizona, with his sons and daughter.
