Homecoming 2016 is less than three months away, and Illinois State’s campus is starting to plan for the festivities.

Faculty and staff have several opportunities to get involved and share in this year’s theme, “A Normal Tradition,” with favorite memories and Illinois State traditions. There’s no need to wait: Get involved and get in the Homecoming spirit with the programs below:

Campus decorating contest

Campus offices and departments can register for the campus decorating contest to promote Redbird pride and show off Homecoming spirit! Entrants will be judged on their use of the 2016 Homecoming theme, school spirit, Illinois State University’s name and/or images, and the impact of the decorations throughout the week. Judging will be Friday, September 30.

Homecoming parade

Departments or offices wishing to participate in the Homecoming parade Saturday, October 8, can submit registrations online until October 3. Involvement in the parade can be an excellent team-building activity for staff and faculty designing floats together and encourages community involvement.

Homecoming royalty nominations

A long-running Homecoming tradition is the selection of Homecoming royalty. Faculty and staff can nominate individuals for alumni king and queen (deadline July 29), prince and princess (deadline August 19), and student royalty (deadline September 15). All nomination forms and criteria are available on the Homecoming royalty webpage.
