Honors
Kathryn Sampeck, ANT, has been appointed as a Non-resident Fellow with the Du Bois Research Institute, Hutchins Center for African and African American Research at Harvard University.

Chuck Scott, Facilities, was installed as the president of APPA: Leadership in Educational Facilities, the organization for educational facilities professionals. APPA has more than 10,000 members in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and other countries around the globe.

Presentations
Kim Pereira, THD, presented “Music & Mythology in the Plays of August Wilson” at the 16th Biennial Maple Leaf & Eagle Conference on Canadian and American Studies, Whose North America? Identities, Agency, and Belonging at the University of Helsinki, Finland.

Kathryn Jasper, HIS, presented “Between Rome and Ravenna: Reform Choices in the Mid-Eleventh Century” at the International Medieval Congress in Leeds, U.K.

Bob Broad, ENG, presented “Writing Portfolios: An Assessment Worth Teaching Toward” at the Conference on College Composition and Communication in Houston, Texas. He also presented “Research  :  Writing  :  Assessment… Three Subjects, Three Verbs, Three Objects” at the conference.

Ali Riaz, POL, published “Bangladesh: Islamist Militancy, Democracy Deficit and Where to Next?” in a report for Aljazeera’s Center for Studies.

Jeff Kahn, PSY, co-authored “’So sad and so slow, so why can’t I turn off the radio’: The effects of gender, depression, and absorption on liking music that induces sadness and music that induces happiness” which appeared in Psychology of Music.

Logan Miller, ANT, published “MANA from heaven: Testing the utility of minimum analytical nodule analysis at large, repeatedly reoccupied ceremonial sites” in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports.

Amy Wood, HIS, published “Critical Conversations on Donald Matthews’ ‘The Southern Rite of Human Sacrifice’” in the Journal of Southern Religion.

Marjorie Jones and David Cedeño, CHE, published “9-[(E)-2-phenylethenyl] anthracene and 9-[(E)-2-(naphthalen-2-yl)ethenyl] anthracene as Traps for Singlet Oxygen: Photosensitized Oxidation and Photodynamic Effect on Leishmania tarentolae Parasites” in Biosalud: Revista Ciencias Basics.
