The College of Arts and Sciences will sponsor an open forum to discuss the possibility of a transdisciplinary water center on campus. The Open Water Forum will be from 2-4 p.m., Friday, September 2, in Stevenson Hall, room 401.

“Water is essential to a diversity of critical areas that span traditional academic disciplines, such as agriculture, health, biology and ecology, business, and politics,” said Professor of Sociology Joan Brehm, who works extensively in water studies and collaborates with fellow Illinois State faculty on the subject.

According to Brehm, the water forum will explore how Illinois State University can collaborate and contribute to the growing body of work already being done on water issues within the state and the region. “The purpose of the forum is to engage in a discussion to share ideas and visions for how we might foster and create a more centralized vehicle to support transdisciplinary work focused around the critical theme of water,” she said.

Faculty members interested in attending should RSVP to Brehm at jmbrehm@ilstu.edu by Wednesday, August 31.
