Kerri Milita will present the Main Street College talk with “When You Say Nothing At All: How Candidates Win Elections by Shunning Issues” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, at Illinois State University’s Alumni Center, 1101 N. Main St., Normal.
Main Street College events are free and designed for the public.
Milita is an assistant professor in the Department of Politics & Government at Illinois State. She studies direct democracy, electoral campaigns, and public policy. A frequent guest on WGLT radio, Milita is known for breaking down what politicians say, and don’t say, and how that influences the public.
Her research has been published in scholarly journals such as State Politics and Policy Quarterly, the American Review of Politics, and Political Behavior. She has also written for the London School of Economics’ blog.
Earning a doctorate in American politics and public policy from Florida State University, Milita joined the faculty of Illinois State in 2014.
