The Department of Chemistry will be hosting a climate change workshop for college students on Saturday, September 24 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Science Laboratory Building on the Illinois State University campus. The registration fee is $2.00, payable at the door. Individuals should register online

Three lab sessions will provide demonstrations and hands-on experience. The day’s program will also include five talks by noted ISU professors and the Illinois State Climatologist. Attendees will receive a handout for performing the demonstrations, lunch and snacks, and an ACS Climate Science Toolkit Patch for lab coat or jacket.

The Illinois Heartland Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) has an active climate science outreach program. Saturday’s workshop will be subsidized by a 2016 grant from the ACS Committee on Community Activities. The group also has an active speakers’ bureau of interested scientists who can speak to school classes and civic, religious, and community groups.
