Many have seen It’s a Wonderful Life air on television during the holiday season, but this is a chance to see it come to life as the School of Theatre and Dance presents It’s a Wonderful Life, A Live Radio Play. This beloved classic, turned into a 1940s radio broadcast, follows George Bailey as he realizes that life is not always ideal.

What makes the December 9 performance night special is the addition of an alumni reception prior to the show. The reception for alumni and families will celebrate the holiday season with a memorable performance by the Illinois State Madrigals singing classic carols along with an appearance for Reggie Redbird. Reception guests will enjoy an hors d’oeuvres buffet and cash bar along with a holiday craft activity for all members of the family.

When: Friday, December 9
6–7 p.m., alumni reception in Center for the Visual Arts 110 (Old Galleries)
7:30 p.m., performance begins in Center for the Performing Arts

Reception cost is $5 per person. Alumni tickets for the performance are $15 for adults and $10 for children/students. Two and under are free for both events. Register online by Friday, December 2, or by contacting Alumni Relations at (309) 438-2586.
