Honors

Linda Healy, WGLT, was named the winner of the McLean County Chamber of Commerce Athena Award for 2016. Several members of the Illinois State University family were named to the Athena “20 Under 40” list at the annual event. They include: Liz Larson, WGLT; Julie Navickas, COM; and Zach Schroeder, Athletics.

The poem “Sipping Coffee @ Carmela’s” by Joe Amato, ENG, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. The poem is published in Poets and Artists.

Lisa Szczepura, CHE, won the 2016 Outstanding Achievement in Science award, presented at the Central Illinois Women in STEM Gala.

Karen Coats, ENG, co-wrote “Growing Up Frankenstein: Adaptations for Young Readers” for The Cambridge Companion to Frankenstein.

J. Scott Jordan, PSY, co-edited the book Contextuality from Quantum Physics to Psychology, which was published in January.

Christopher Breu, ENG, was the guest editor of “Intersex Writing,” a special edition of the American Book Review.

G. Logan Miller, ANT, co-authored, “The Wauseon Clovis fluted point preform, Northwest Ohio, U.S.A.: Observations, geometric morphometrics, microwear, and toolstone procurement distance” in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports.

Shane Combs, ENG, wrote “In Search of Affect Affiliation: Mistakes, Missteps, and Mentor Relationships” for the Community College Moment. He also wrote “Queering Time and Space: Donald Murray as Introvert Whisperer” for the Composition Forum.
