Associate Professor of History Touré Reed published a column on the U.S. Presidential election in the national magazine The Nation.

The column, “Why I Voted Nader in 2000 and Will Be Voting for Hillary Clinton in 2016,” warns that Donald Trump’s candidacy does not bode well for the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, 14th, and 15th amendments.

An American history scholar, Reed has written extensively of the impact of race and class ideologies on black social reform during the first half of the 20th century. His work has been featured in scholarly journals and magazines such as the JacobinThe New Republic, and The Journal of Ethnic History. He is the co-author of Renewing Black Intellectual History: The Ideological and Material Foundations of African American Thought.

Founded in 1865, The Nation is America’s oldest weekly magazine. The publication describes itself as  “serving as a critical, independent voice in American journalism and a platform for investigative reporting and spirited debate on issues of import to the  progressive community.”
