The Illinois State University Police Department and Environmental Health & Safety office have developed a one-hour emergency preparedness class for interested University departments, teams, and groups. The interactive class encourages participants to discuss effective ways of dealing with a variety of emergency scenarios.

Topics in the session include:

  • Emergency Guides (flip charts)
  • BirdWatch Guidebook (inside the Illinois State University app)
  • Department emergency response plans
  • Evacuation assembly areas and accountability
  • Specific scenarios:
    • Fire inside a building
    • Tornado hitting campus
    • Hazardous materials incident
    • Armed robbery
    • Bomb threat
    • Shots fired
    • Active shooter
