Philosophy Professor Casey O’Callaghan, of Washington University in St. Louis, will speak at a colloquium titled “Senses as Capacities.”

The colloquium is hosted by Illinois State’s Department of Philosophy.

When: 4 p.m. Friday, December 2
Where: 311 Stevenson Hall

Here is what O’Callaghan will discuss:

I’ll present a novel account of the nature of the senses and what distinguishes them from each other that nonetheless accommodates richly multisensory forms of perception and awareness. According to this account, senses are collections of perceptual capacities grouped according to the manner in which they are deployed.
