Discover your adventurous spirit this spring semester with amazing opportunities provided by the Adventure program. Activities include hikes, skiing, backpacking, and a special Florida Spring Break Trip. These trips will provide fun and adventure for participants of any level.

Join one of our Winter Waterfall Hikes on either February 4 or February 26 at the beautiful Starved Rock State Park in Oglesby. Other hikes include those at Sugar Grove Nature Center and Weldon Springs State Park. These hikes are a great way to take in the beautiful scenery and meet new friends. Cross-country skiing, a favorite sport for many, will be the basis of our February 11 trip, where you will be instructed on how to glide easily on the wintry terrain.

If winter is not your idea of fun, then join in our many water activities later in the semester. SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) workshops will be offered where you will learn the technique to navigate on a SUP board in the Student Fitness Center pool. Then take to the waters outside for some classic water fun in our stand-up paddleboarding and Picnic, Paddle, and Play trips.

Don’t miss the unforgettable spring break trip to the Florida waterways in March. Kayaking and snorkeling on Florida’s Gulf Coast will be something to look forward to. Another way to forget your worries during the busy spring semester is by backpacking through Sand Ridge State Forest with us April 7–9.  If climbing is your thing, then join the climb and hike on April 21–23 in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

“There is fun to come this semester with plenty of ways for you to live out your adventure,” said Rachel Iversen, assistant director-Adventure programs. “We have a wide variety of fantastic adventure opportunities for anyone to join.”

Don’t miss out on any of the fun! Registration starts January 17. Check the Adventure section of the website for full descriptions, deadlines, and costs for any of these activities. For more information, email Adventure@IllinoisState.edu or call (309) 438-8427.
