Rose Marshack and Rick Valentin, MUS, completed a concert tour with their ensemble Poster Children, performing in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia, supporting the 25th anniversary of their Warner Brothers release, Daisy Chain Reaction.

Alycia Hund, PSY, presented “Spatial language during early childhood” at the annual meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association in Chicago.

Craig McLauchlan and Marjorie Jones, CHE, were two of the presenters of “Evaluating Decavanadate and Orthovanadate as Inhibitors of Leishmania tarentolae Secreted Acid Phosphatases Using a Novel Inhibition Model” at the 10th International Vanadium Symposium, in Taipei, Taiwan. McLauchlan also co-presented “Synthesis, Characterization, and Catalytic Oxidation Studies of Organophosphorus-bridged Vanadium (IV) Dimers,” “Vanadium-Dependent Haloperoxidase Enzymes: Mechanism, Structure-Functional Relationships, and Coordination Environments,” and “Celebrating Decavanadate (V10) at the 10th International Vanadium Symposium” at the conference.

Mary Dyck, Myoung Jin Kim, and Susan Hovey, MCN, presentedThe Effect of First Clinical Assignments on Prelicensure Nursing Students Attitudes Toward Persons Who are Aged” at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing in Anaheim, California.

Publications
Judith Briggs, and Kendra Paitz, ART, co-authored a book chapter titled “Winded Rainbow: A Vehicle for Global Discussion and Local Action” for the book Convergence of Contemporary Art, Visual Culture, and Global Civic Engagement. The chapter explored educational outreach during Juan Angel Chávez’s exhibition at University Galleries.

Jamie Mahurin Smith, CDS, wrote “Mothers’ perspectives on effective assistance with breastfeeding problems” in Clinical Lactation, and co-authored “Longitudinal Effects on Early Adolescent Language: A Twin Study” in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research.

Joe Amato, ENG, published the poem “Dr. Fossilicious, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love My Carbon Footprint” in Politics/Letters.

Nancy Lind, POL, authored “Representative Bureaucracy” and co-authored “Garbage-Can Model of Organizations” and in the Global Encyclopedia of Public Administration, Public Policy, and Governance by Springer International Publishing, Switzerland.

Honors
Kim McCord, MUS, was reappointed as North Central division chair of the National Association for Music Education Council for Jazz Education.

Yu-Luen Ma and Nat Pope, COB, have been selected as co-editors of the Journal of Insurance Issues. They begin their three-year term as co-editors in 2017. The peer-reviewed journal is affiliated with the Western and Southern Risk and Insurance Associations.
