Adam Fox, theater and civic arts manager for the Town of Normal Parks and  Recreation Department, will present “The Arthouse Cinema and Its Role in the Video-On-Demand World” at the next University Club at 4:30 p.m. Friday, February 10, in the Faculty/Staff Commons of the Bone Student Center.

One of the key components of Fox’s job is programming for the Normal Theater, the art deco movie house in Uptown Normal. The mission of the Normal Theater is to provide audiences with the classic cinema-going experience, an activity that fosters a sense of community while offering added context to a film.

Fox believes now that content is available at all times and across a host of different devices, the bringing-together of an audience for a shared narrative is perhaps more important than it has ever been. He will discuss film as a participatory art form.

All faculty, staff, annuitants, and guests are welcome to attend in a very informal and relaxed atmosphere from 3:30-5:30 p.m. In addition, snacks and liquid refreshments are available.

Additional information about University Club events and activities can be found on the website. Continued program support is provided by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the President.
