The shortest month of the year was packed with excitement here at Illinois State University.

February 1 was national football signing day and our program was proud to announce the talented players joining our #RedbirdFamily this fall. Kobe Buffalomeat signed with ISU and his unique name drew national attention from media outlets. Kobe handled the attention with grace, as you can see during his interview with Jimmy Kimmel.

Jane Lynch ’82, a Redbird who’s accustomed to the national spotlight, returned to campus to celebrate 160 years of excellence during Founders Day. The Emmy and Golden Globe winner received an honorary doctoral degree during Founders Day Convocation and was spotted around campus snapping selfies with starstruck students.

The men’s basketball team continued to capture headlines, finishing the regular season with a perfect home record, the most conference wins in program history, and the best overall record by an Illinois State men’s basketball team ever.  The team will enter the Missouri Valley Conference tournament as the No. 1 seed for the first time since 1998. Each month we curate a “best of” photo gallery of social media posts from the previous month. Here’s a look at our favorite posts from the Redbird community in February 2017.
