#CAST50 is serving you another volleyball player and CAST student, Megan Beutke.

What is your year and major ?

I am a transfer junior so it is actually my first year here at ISU. My major is interior design.

What it is like being a student athlete?

Being a student athlete has its challenges but it is all totally worth it. A typical day includes weights in the morning then classes in Turner Hall. Following classes I go over to the Athletic Study Center for study hall hours. Then maybe if I’m lucky I can get a quick nap or rest time in. Then off to do ankle prehab and extra cardio. Then it is time for practice! After practice I go home, make dinner and do homework. Then I go to bed and do it all over again the next day. The time put in as a student athlete is worth all the memories, friends, and experiences you gain.

What do you do in your free time?

When I’m not doing volleyball, I love to do crafts. Additionally, I love spending time with my family and friends and I love to be outside and find interesting treasures in nature!

When you were a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a child I wanted to be a Food Network star. I always watched Rachael Ray and asked for cooking supplies for Christmas! Although I am not pursuing a culinary career, I still love to cook and bake!

What is your favorite part about your major? What are your career goals?

My favorite part about my major is being able to be creative freedom. I also love my professors! They are all very interactive and helpful, but are also very likable! My plan for the future is to work for an architect firm and to be a commercial interior designer.
