Mboka Mwilambwe '94, M.S. '96, and his son, Jonah, cook at a previous alumni event.

Back by popular demand,  Cook with a Redbird Chef is all for the kids on April 21. Illinois State alumni can bring their children to the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Foods Lab to witness the talent of Illinois State students as they instruct guests on how to prepare delicious Redbird snacks and lunch options.

The evening will begin with fun fruit appetizers for guest to enjoy while creating a bento-style lunch box to decorate and fill throughout the night. Children and parents will then learn new healthy and delicious ideas to fill their lunchbox as they navigate around to four different stations, each with a different theme:

  • Entrée: Sandwich-on-a-stick
  • Side dish: Mix and match pasta salad
  • Fruit/vegetable: Veggie & fruit critters
  • Dessert: Peanut butter chocolate oatmeal bites

Illinois State student chefs will be instructing and giving tips throughout the event as well.
