Students to learn about diversity initiatives in workplace, April 6
As part of Illinois State’s commitment to diversity, the Career Center is pleased to host its annual Diversity Employer Expo on Thursday, April 6, to introduce students to organizations with diversity initiatives. The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Hancock Stadium Club.
In a business casual environment, students will mix and mingle with employers over a free dinner to learn about their organizations and their diversity initiatives. Conversations are casual and allow students to explore career and employment opportunities without obligation.
“The goal of this event is to assist students with connecting with employers interested in recruiting them,” said Career Center Director Pamela Cooper. “Students will be able to engage in casual conversation with employers in a very relaxed and supportive atmosphere.”
After dinner, students can peruse employer tables to connect with representatives further, share their resumes, and learn about internships or full-time positions that organizations may have available.
Sponsored by Enterprise and Target, this event is hosted through the Career Center’s Cultural Career Network, which provides students of diverse backgrounds with career resources and connections to organizations with diversity initiatives to help them prepare for the workplace.
The event is open to all Illinois State University student and they are encouraged to invite their peers. Advisors, faculty, and staff who have affiliations with diverse students are encouraged to invite them to attend.
Students interested in attending the Diversity Employer Expo must register. Registration, helpful tips on how to put a best foot forward, and how to dress appropriately for this event are available at CareerCenter.IllinoisState.edu/DiversityE2.
