Illinois State University’s Department of Criminal Justice Sciences and Criminal Justice Association will hold the Central Illinois Offender Reentry Symposium from 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20, in the Old Main Room of the Bone Student Center.

Rodger Heaton, director of Public Safety and Homeland Security advisor to Governor Bruce Rauner, will deliver the symposium’s keynote address at 9:15 a.m. Heaton is chairman of the Commission on Criminal Justice and Sentencing Reform and is a former United States Attorney for the Central District of Illinois.

Panel discussions during the symposium will focus on programs, outreach efforts, and services for assisting individuals transitioning from the criminal justice system back into society. Panelists will include representatives from the criminal justice system, social service agencies, the medical and mental health care fields, and higher education.
