The Spring 2017 International Seminar Series will highlight “Peace and Conflict Resolution.” The seminar series will take place at noon on Wednesdays in the Prairie Room of the Bone Student Center throughout the semester. The talks are free and open to the public.

The final session in the series will be April 26 with a panel discussion of current and past faculty coordinators of the ISU peace and conflict resolution studies minor. The panel will  include Illinois State’s Joe Grabill, emeritus professor of history; Dawn Beichner, professor of criminal justice sciences; and Noha Shawki, associate professor of politics and government. Panelists will give an overview of the founding of the peace and conflict resolution studies minor, and its subsequent history.

Grabill is one of the founders of the peace and conflict resolution minor at ISU. Faculty co-director of Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies, Beichner is also a professor in the Women’s and Gender Studies Program. Her research addresses transnational activism as well as international norms with a substantive focus on human rights and sustainable development.
