Join the Latin@ Alumni Network for an outing Wednesday, May 3, in support of the 33rd Chicago Latino Film Festival. First, the group will gather for food and conversation at Emilio’s Tapas Sol y Nieve. Then they will take a three-minute walk to grab a seat and enjoy the Peruvian comedy My Worst Wedding in Spanish with English subtitles.

The film features Maricielo, who runs a small shop in a local mall while daydreaming about the torrid romances of her favorite soap opera characters. Her life is turned upside-down when, one day, a little boy named Ignacio and his reluctant butler, Pablo, walk into her store with an unusual proposition: They ask her to pose as a wedding planner so she can derail Ignacio’s father’s (Mexican soap opera superstar Gabriel Soto) wedding. All hell breaks loose at the wedding as Maricielo tries her best to ruin the happy occasion in Adolfo Aguilar’s farcical debut.

6:15 p.m., Alumni gathering at Emilio’s Tapas Sol y Nieve, 215 East Ohio Street, Chicago
8:15 p.m., My Worst Wedding at AMC River East 21 Theatres, 322 East Illinois Street, Chicago
