Illinois State University will host the annual Social Issues Fair from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, April 24, in the Circus Room of the Bone Student Center. The fair is free and open to the public.

The fair will allow students from Communication as Critical Inquiry (COM 110) to engage other Illinois State University students and the community about current political and social issues.

Each student will be required to prepare a short briefing on his or her social issue. Prior to engaging attendees, each student will research his or her topic, providing an opportunity to develop valuable research and critical thinking skills.

The fair is co-sponsored by Illinois State University’s American Democracy Project and School of Communication. Both Illinois State’s American Democracy Project and School of Communication are dedicated to educating students for responsible civic and political engagement. Illinois State was selected along with seven other campuses nationwide as a model political engagement institution by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) in 2006.
