The Illinois State football team officially opens the 2017 season September 2 against Butler, and 2,000 lucky fans in attendance will receive a limited-edition Brock Spack bobblehead to take home as a souvenir.

The first 6,000 fans through the gates at Hancock Stadium prior to the 6:30 p.m. kickoff will receive a scratch off ticket. A total of 2,000 of those will result in ISU head coach Brock Spack bobbleheads being given to lucky fans with winning tickets. The bobblehead giveaway is the fourth Illinois State Athletics has commissioned in recent years, but the first for a Redbird head coach.

The giveaway is one perk of the annual Spack Stache Bash. The free event open to all ages prior to the football game and last year’s inaugural event included a parking lot party, featured a DJ and included giveaways and food samples from local sponsors.

Since taking over the Redbird football program prior to the 2009 season, Spack has helped make Illinois State a perennial contender in the FCS. Spack (62-35) has led the Redbirds to four playoff appearances in the past five seasons and three-straight overall.  The Redbirds won a school-record 13 games during the magical 2014 season and advanced to the FCS National Championship for the first time in school history. Much of the team’s success has been due to its dominance at home, with a 40-9 overall record at Hancock Stadium since Spack took over and a 23-3 mark at home the past four seasons.

Season ticket packages and the “Spack Pack” two-game ticket plan for the upcoming 2017 football season are on sale now, with single-game tickets available on July 20. To secure your seats, or for more information about Redbird football tickets, contact the Illinois State Athletics Ticket Office at (309) 438-8000 or visit GoRedbirds.com/Tickets.
