An update from Douglas Jackson ’91, M.A. ’93, who graduated from Illinois State University with a master’s degree in foreign languages with a focus on Spanish.

“Currently I teach Spanish for Specific Purposes and Service Learning courses in Nicaragua at the¬†University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Illinois State University prepared me for Peace Corps (Cape Verde, Africa from 1994-1995) and these 20-plus years of teaching college. What a great program! Foreign language professors like Drs. Kurtz, Laurenti, Lower, and Villarubla made me the teacher that I am today.

Thanks Illinois State!”
