Homecoming 2017 will be here soon (October 16-22 to be exact), and Illinois State’s campus is starting to plan for the festivities.

Faculty and staff have several opportunities to get involved and share in this year’s theme, “Building a Legacy,” with favorite memories and looks at legacies from the past and present. There’s no need to wait: Get involved and get in the Homecoming spirit with the programs below:

Campus decorating contest

Campus offices and departments can register for the campus decorating contest to promote Redbird pride and show off Homecoming spirit! Entrants will be judged on their use of the 2017 Homecoming theme, school spirit, Illinois State University’s name and/or images, and the impact of the decorations throughout the week. Judging will be Friday, October 13.

Homecoming parade

Departments or offices wishing to participate in the Homecoming parade Saturday, October 21, can submit registrations online until October 16. Involvement in the parade can be an excellent team-building activity for staff and faculty designing floats together and encourages community involvement.

Homecoming royalty nominations

Homecoming also builds a legacy of celebrating selected alumni, students, and children of alums. Faculty and staff can nominate individuals for alumni king and queen (deadline July 28), prince and princess (deadline August 18), and student royalty (deadline September 28). All nomination forms and criteria are available on the Homecoming royalty webpage.
