Homecoming 2017 is coming and the Black Colleagues Association (BCA) is in full gear preparing another Homecoming weekend for alumni. Mark calendars now for Friday, October 20 – Sunday, October 22 as campus gets ready for Homecoming 2017: Building a Legacy.

“Homecoming is a festive time for the University and the Black Colleagues Association to welcome back our alumni – young and old, near and far – and to celebrate its current student body,” stated Lisa Miller ’93 and Terrence Seaphus ’82, BCA Homecoming chairs.

Alumni, family, and friends will kick off the weekend on October 20 with the annual meet and greet. Following this, alumni and students will be the entertainment for the night in the Brown Ballroom for the Open Mic and Talent Show. Shout out to all those performers! Make sure to register before the August 31 deadline.

Saturday is jam-packed with events, starting with the black alumni tailgate open from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. in Lot U91. Come get some food, relax, and have fun before the Redbirds take on the South Dakota Coyotes at Hancock Stadium for this year’s game. Redbirds can then go back to their hotels to get ready for the Saturday night Tailgate After Party at the host hotel, Holiday Inn & Suites. The party will go until 1 a.m. for guests to mix, mingle, eat, and dance.

On Sunday, October 22, after a weekend of reuniting and making new memories, pay it forward at the annual scholarship brunch in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center. BCA and President Larry Dietz will recognize the 2017-2018 student recipients. Hear their stories and get inspired.

Alumni can purchase the BCA Redbird Weekend Package July 24 – August 31 for $75. From September 1- October 6, the cost will increase to $90. The weekend package includes Friday’s meet and greet/open mic and talent show, Saturday’s after party, and Sunday’s brunch. Following October 6, guests will have to pay individual prices onsite.

BCA has also reserved a block of rooms at the host hotel, Holiday Inn & Suites in Bloomington. Those interested in the hotel block must purchase a BCA Homecoming weekend package first. Room reservations will then be available after the purchase. A list of other hotels with BCA blocks is available on the BCA Homecoming site. For a complete list of Homecoming activities, visit the Illinois State University Homecoming website.

BCA is making sure it continues to build a legacy this year at Homecoming. Will you be a part of it?
