International students can get an overview of Curricular Practical Training (CPT) Friday, September 1, from noon–1 p.m. in 110P Student Services Building.

This event is a great opportunity for international students in F-1 status to participate in professional, temporary employment such as an internship, co-op program, or practicum, which is undertaken prior to the completion of studies. Students will receive useful knowledge of how to apply for CPT and the difference between CPT and OPT (Optional Practical Training).

Students will also be introduced to Career Center resources that help international students who are seeking part-time and full-time employment, internships and assistantships in the United States to navigate the job search and interview processes.  Snacks will be provided.

The International Student Career Series was designed by Illinois State’s Career Center and International Student and Scholar Services in order to provide important information on resume crafting, job applications, and visa procedures for all international students who wish to work in the U.S. The series will run from September to November.
