The Career Center is hosting InstaCareer to help students learn the skills needed to be successful when meeting potential employers or professional contacts. At the program held on Wednesday, September 6 and Tuesday, September 26 in the Bone Student Center, students will rotate through a series of short interactive sessions to learn how to best prepare for the upcoming fairs and how to be successful at networking.

The 8-minute sessions are facilitated by actual recruiters and career experts. Broken down in to four sessions, they’ll discuss how to make a good first impression and dress appropriately, how to research employers, how to pitch oneself through a 30-second commercial and solid handshake, and how to follow-up with employers to stay connected. The entire rotation will last about one hour, but students can arrive anytime between 4 and 6 p.m.

“I really enjoyed getting to talk to actual recruiters and learning how to introduce myself. They gave me some great tips and ensure you have a way to contact them after speaking with them.” -Fall 2016 attendee.

By attending this event, students will gain the skills they need to approach employers and career professionals with greater confidence and professionalism at career fairs and other career events. All students are invited to attend. However, students attending the Accounting Career Fair, Fall Internship Fair, Fall Career Fair or Healthcare Professions Fair are highly encouraged to participate.
