Every month the Administrative/Professional (A/P) Council highlights an A/P staff member through a series of questions as another way for the Illinois State community to connect. This month readers can get to know a few A/P members as we introduce the newest members of the Administrative/Professional Council.

What’s your job title and duties?

Liz Chupp: I am the director of advisement for the School of Communication. I advise communication majors/minors, teach various communication courses, lead recruitment strategy for the school, serve as Honors liaison and assist with many administrative tasks within the school (including enrollment management, course scheduling, catalog/curriculum revisions, etc.).

Kris Harding: I’m the director of constituent relations for the College of Education. I lead our marketing and communication team, coordinate college events, assist with recruitment, and  work with alumni/donor relations.

Amelia Noël-Elkins: I am the director of University College. With the help of an amazing staff, I’m responsible for the operations of University College.

Amanda Papinchock: I am an academic advisor with University College. I make course recommendations and give academic advice to my assigned students so that they may progress successfully through the next stage of their academic career at Illinois State University.

Hurdylyn Woods: I’m a diversity advocacy coordinator focusing on special projects. I am working on strategies for retention efforts of students of color and to educate our campus about concepts surrounding diversity.

How long have you been with Illinois State?

Liz: March 2011

Kris: December 2000

Amelia: July 2005

Amanda: I’ve been working here for over two years. I am a proud alum that started my Redbird journey here in 2010!

Hurdylyn: May 2010

What do you love most about working at ISU?

Liz: The campus community! Everyone is very supportive and willing to lend a helping hand. Everyone seems to genuinely love ISU, which makes coming to work much more enjoyable!

Kris: I love working at ISU because of the students, mentors, and Redbird community.

Amelia: I can’t pick just one thing!  I love the Quad, our students, and the great people I work with every day.

Amanda: What I love most about working at Illinois State University is the fact that I go into work every day knowing I can make a positive impact on at least one person. I love being a part of something larger that makes a difference individually and throughout our local community.

Hurdylyn: Helping the students and seeing them find their way on college career paths.

When not working, what are you most likely doing?

Liz:  Spending time with my family (my husband and twin boys), scrapbooking, or reading

Kris: If I am not working, I am at a sporting event for my children.

Amelia: Hanging out with my husband and kids….and reading.

Amanda:  My partner and I recently purchased a home, and we have been working on a few “first time home-owner” projects, in addition to finalizing the last minute details for our upcoming wedding in October!

Hurdylyn: Studying for class, working out, or trying to squeeze a small bit of pleasure reading in between studying.

What is your favorite spot on campus?

Liz: The new Redbird Plaza. I love the swings! I also enjoy just walking around the Quad on a nice day. As a Redbird alum, the quad has a lot of nostalgia for me!

Kris: My favorite spot is the “To Those Who Fell in Love at ISU” bench. I met my husband, Jamie Harding, at ISU.

Amelia: Redbird Plaza!

Amanda: One of my favorite spots on campus is the gazebo located in the middle of the Quad. It is the perfect location to relax, get lost in the everyday hustle and bustle of students, faculty, staff and campus visitors, and it is an ideal location to enjoy the beautiful campus scenery.

Hurdylyn: Redbird Arena. Whether being an undergraduate student to now coming to the games with my son, I love ISU basketball.
