Students participate in Take Back the Night.

Now a staple on college campuses, the Take Back the Night March offers survivors of sexual violence, allies, families, and members of the Bloomington-Normal community a supportive space to tell our stories and speak out against sexual harassment and violence.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. October 26 in the Bone Student Center, Old Main Room. The program begins with speakers who offer their testimonies as survivors of sexual violence. These inspirational testimonies are intended to inspire courage and solidarity for the march. A rally will begin at 7 p.m. in the Old Main Room. At the conclusion of both the march and the rally, Student Counseling Services personnel will be available and hosting safe spaces to be used for continued discussion, processing, and action planning. The event is open to all genders.

There will also be a candlelight vigil after the march to honor those who have passed as a result of sexual assault and domestic violence.
