Come help Illinois State University kick off its first of many Homecoming 2017 events and programs on Monday, October 16. This year is all about “building a legacy,” and the University has many to celebrate and recognize.

Homecoming Kickoff

The first kickoff event has the same spirit and excitement but with a different time! Join in the celebration at Homecoming Kickoff from 3-5 p.m at Schroeder Plaza. This free event for Redbird fans and students will feature an ice cream sundae bar and live entertainment from ISU’s student-run radio station, WZND. Participants will also hear from Vice President for Student Affairs Levester Johnson and football coach Brock Spack, meet the 2017 Homecoming royalty court, and join in with the Big Red Marching Machine and ISU cheerleaders.

Town of Normal Tree Lighting Ceremony

After the Kickoff on the Quad,  join the Town of Normal’s Mayor Chris Koos and Illinois State President Larry Dietz  for the annual tree lighting ceremony. This free event starts at 6:30 p.m. in Uptown Circle with a special performance by the Big Red Marching Machine and Illinois State University cheerleaders beginning at 7 p.m. Followed shortly after, Illinois State and the Town of Normal will come together to light the trees red and white to shine bright throughout Homecoming and the rest of the year.
