The Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the School of Art are pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibit in the Schroeder Hall Gallery (second floor atrium). The event, which will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, will feature a talk, “As Fluid as a Brick Wall: Urban Surfaces in Oaxaca and Mexico City,” by Professor Livia Stone, Department of Sociology and Anthropology. Both the talk and the exhibit are free and open to the public.

The Schroeder Hall Gallery is a collaboration between the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the School of Art at Illinois State University that is designed to showcase sociologically and anthropologically relevant artwork in a venue with wide exposure to students. “Dr. Stone’s exhibit is not only important to the field of visual anthropology, but the urban images are remarkable pieces of art as well,” said Distinguished Professor James Skibo, chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. “All are welcome to attend the opening.”
